Franz Friedl

Franz Friedl brings more than three decades of experience as an international banker and senior executive in leading financial centers across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His expertise spans investment banking, wealth management, risk assessment, venture capital, and private equity, complemented by deep knowledge of emerging markets and an extensive global network.

Since 2010, Franz has worked as an independent consultant based in Switzerland, advising family offices and taking on mandates in fintech and real-estate development. As Chief Advisor to EIT Health, a European Union-backed organization, he worked on healthcare innovation and financing initiatives.

​

Franz’s banking career ranged across three continents, with senior leadership roles at Creditanstalt, Bank Austria, HypoVereinsBank, and UniCredit Investment Bank. Along the way, he helped launch new companies, restructure operations, and execute acquisitions and divestitures. He also honed his commodity finance skills in London and gained hands-on operating experience at AWT, then an internationally renowned consumer goods trader and BMW distributor across Central and Eastern Europe.

Throughout his career, he has combined strategic vision with disciplined executions, translating plans into effective policy, advising boards, and building high-performing teams across diverse markets and cultures.

Franz studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and completed postgraduate studies in Osaka, Japan, as well as executive programs at INSEAD (France) and IMD (Switzerland). He speaks English, German, and French. Outside of work, he enjoys classical music, jazz, poetry, philosophy, and history.
